  Description - LAN and Internet

LAN Diagram

This diagram shows how Remote Desktop Assistant works if local and remote computers are located in the same LAN. ICMP (ping) and TCP (port monitoring and Remote Desktop Connection) packets are sent directly to the remote computer, magic packets are sent to the broadcast address.

Internet Diagram

This diagram shows how Remote Desktop Assistant works if remote computer is located behind a router with NAT. ICMP (ping) packets are sent to the router only. TCP (port monitoring and Remote Desktop Connection) packets can reach the remote computer if port forwarding is installed. Magic packet can reach the remote computer if the router is capable to forward them to the broadcast address
